Plans underway for 65 homes close to Oriel Park in Dundalk

Plans are underway for 65 new homes at the Carrickmacross Road in Dundalk, close to Oriel Park, with a planning application lodged with Louth County Council in recent days.

Ballygorman Contracts Limited has applied for planning permission for a development on lands incorporating Dealgan House,, No.1 Carrickmacross Road, Dundalk, and associated lands to the south, which would include the demolition of Dealgan House and associated site clearance works.

The proposed housing comprises 43 residential dwellings consisting of: two two-bed units; 40 three-bed units; and a four-bed unit; as well as 22 two-bed apartments in a building which is part four and part five storeys in height. The apartment building incorporates provision of bins, bicycle and bulky items storage area at ground level.

The applicant is also seeking the go ahead for the provision of associated car parking at surface level, provision of electric vehicle charge points with associated site infrastructure ducting to provide charge points for residents throughout the site, and the creation of a new access point from Carrickmacross Road with associated works.

The planning application also provides for items including the provision of internal access roads and footpaths and associated works; residential public open space along with provision of communal open space areas to include a formal play area along with all hard and soft landscape works with public lighting, planting and boundary treatments to include boundary walls, railings & fencing; and all ancillary site development/construction works to facilitate foul, water and service networks for connection to the existing foul, water and ESB networks.

A decision is due on the application, which is at a pre-validation stage, by 9 June 2026, with submissions due by 19 May.
