Planning application lodged this week with Louth County Council for 57 new apartments at north end of Dundalk

Plans are underway for a new apartment development in the north end of Dundalk, with a planning application lodged with Louth County Council this week.

Racecourse Road Developments Limited has applied for planning permission for the development at Racecourse Meadows, Racecourse Road, Dundalk, seeking the go ahead for a residential development of 57 apartment units.

The proposed 57 apartments comprise 30 one-bed units and 27 two-bed units across three buildings. Block A comprises ten one-bed units and nine two-bed units over five storeys. Block B comprises ten one-bed units and nine two-bed units over five storeys and Block C comprises ten one-bed units and nine two-bed units over five storeys.

Car parking for the development is proposed at surface level via on-street parking as well as the provision of electric vehicle charge points with associated site infrastructure ducting to provide charge points for residents throughout the site.

Provision of associated bulk & bin storage facilities is proposed at surface level within the three proposed apartment blocks, along with provision of associated bicycle storage facilities at surface level adjoining the apartment blocks.

The developer is seeking the go ahead for upgrade works to the existing internal estate road and footpaths, and also for the  provision of new additional internal access roads and footpaths and associated works, as well as the provision of residential communal open space areas to include a formal play area along with all hard and soft landscape works with public lighting, planting and boundary treatments.

The planning application also provides for items including internal site works and attenuation systems; and all ancillary site development / construction works to facilitate foul, water and service networks for connection to the existing foul, water, gas and ESB networks.

A decision is due on the application, which is at a pre-validation stage, by 13 May 2026, with submissions due by 22 April.
