Plans to replace communal space in Red Barns development in Dundalk with apartments

Plans are underway to repurpose a communal space within a permitted apartment building at the Red Barns Road in Dundalk to additional apartments.

Wonderglade Unlimited Company has applied to Louth County Council for planning permission for the development at Bayview, Red Barns Road, Dundalk.

The developer is seeking the go ahead for the repurposing of a communal space within a permitted apartment building to provide four additional one-bedroom apartments.

The permitted apartment mix would then be amended from 14 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom apartments, 29 in total, to 18 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom apartments, 33 in total.

The planned change would see the total number of units across the Bayview Development increased from 89 units, comprising 60 houses and 29 apartments, to 93 units comprising 60 houses and 33 apartments.

The proposed modifications include external alterations to part of the western façade of the permitted apartment building including window placement and balconies to serve the four new apartments.

According to the developer, there will be no amendments made to the housing, roads or public open space as permitted and under construction.

A decision is due on the application, which is at a pre-validation stage, by 19 April, with submissions due by 29 March 2026.
