Louth County Council seeking €570k additional funding for HAGs

News of the funding was welcomed by Louth TD Fergus O'Dowd

Dunleer has been allocated €50,000 in funding under Measure 3 of the Town Centre First Suite of Supports 2024, it was announced today by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD.

It is part of a national package of funding of €2.6 million to support the development of a wide range of Town Centre First projects. A total of 53 projects will be supported with up to €50,000 of funding per project across the country.

Dunleer has been allocated €50,000, for a project to prepare designs to create a new public realm square comprising new hard surfaces, kerbing, street furniture, feature lighting, soft landscape planting, cycle parking and signage.

Welcoming news of the funding allocation, Louth TD Fergus O'Dowd said, "I received confirmation from my colleague Minister Humphreys this morning that this money has been made available through measure 3 of the Town Centre First Suite of Supports for 2024 which funded 53 projects nationwide to the tune €2.6m.

“In December 2021 Minister Heather Humphreys TD, announced the list of successful local authorities to deliver the first-ever Town Centre First Plans under the Government’s “Town Centre First Policy”. Dunleer was chosen as the location in Louth to drive this strategy and a masterplan was then subsequently published in May of this year.

“The €50k awarded today will prepare designs to create a new public realm square comprising new hard surfaces, kerbing, street furniture, feature lighting, soft landscape planting, cycle parking and signage.

The Fine Gael TD added “This will certainly positively impact residents, businesses, and community groups in the Dunleer area and I look forward to see the work come to fruition.”
