Drogheda to see four female candidates fielded by Fine Gael

Fine Gael has announced that it will be running four female candidates, Marian Agrios Shona McManus, Anne-Marie Forde and Ejiro O’Hare-Stratton, for the upcoming local elections in both the rural and urban districts of Drogheda.

Louth Fine Gael says it is confident that the diverse experiences and shared dedication of the four candidates will bring forth positive changes and address the needs of Drogheda residents, ensuring a bright future for the community.

Its says that "with a profound commitment to fostering community well-being, enhancing local services, and promoting growth and inclusivity, these candidates are poised to address the key challenges facing Drogheda's residents today".

Marian Agrios says she is looking forward to running under the Fine Gael ticket in Drogheda Rural, leaning on her experience representing parents and a track record of community service.

Marian (above) said: "I am delighted, honoured and privileged to have the opportunity to run for the local elections this year as a Fine Gael candidate to represent all in the Drogheda rural area and wholeheartedly thank the family of the late Oliver Tully who have nominated me and trusted me to carry on with his good work. I will give 100% to represent everyone, and am looking forward to meeting more and more people over the coming weeks during the election campaign."

Shona McManus has officially declared her candidacy for Drogheda Urban, bringing over two decades of personal investment and engagement within community, voluntary and enterprise organisations.

Shona (above) stated, "Drogheda is incredibly important to me as it’s where I’ve chosen to raise my family. I’m delighted to have made the decision to stand for local election and would be incredibly proud to represent the people of Drogheda having lived in the area for over 20 years.

"I’ve set up part of my business here and have been a part of multiple local organisations. I am both concerned and passionate about the future of Drogheda, and I will focus on the key issues such as job creation, local development and housing, and a safer, inclusive community now and for future generations to come."

Anne-Marie Forde is running for election in Drogheda Rural. As a principal and former teacher, her focus is on enhancing the lives of children and families in the community. 

Anne-Marie said: "I’m delighted to be running as a local election candidate for Fine Gael in Drogheda rural. As Principal of Scoil Naomh Cholmcille, Togher and previously class teacher in Scoil Naomh Feichín Termonfeckin I am passionate about improving services and support for all children. With your support I hope to build a stronger, more vibrant community, where families thrive, children flourish and our elders are respected."

Ejiro O’Hare-Stratton seeking a council seat in Drogheda Urban, is an accomplished healthcare professional and emphasises unity and collective progress for the community. 

Ejiro, pictured above said, "I am running for the council office because I am deeply committed to the well-being and prosperity of our community in Drogheda Urban. I believe in fostering unity, addressing the diverse needs of our residents, and creating an environment that encourages growth for both businesses and individuals.

"My vision for a safer, cleaner, and more inclusive Drogheda Urban is rooted in the firm belief that unity makes us stronger. I am eager to leverage my experience and collaborate with the community to address challenges collectively and build a brighter future for us all."
