Carlingford leprechauns get their own animated series

Kevin Woods Leprechaun Whisperer

Ireland's Last Leprechaun Whisperer Kevin Woods introduces the world today to childlike leprechauns, known affectionately in Carlingford as Carlichauns.

He invites you today to join team Carlichauns- Hazel, Riley, Dara, Zara and Big Green as they embark on their funny & magical adventures travelling via secret portals  located in an underground cavern in Carlingford ,granting special wishes to children in all parts of the world.

Through a series of twenty-six eleven-minute animated adventures, the first to New York, the Carlichauns fulfil the special wishes of children  everywhere.

This new pre-school brand is being made into a CG animation series and is a reimagining of a 30 + year old brand, 'The Last Leprechauns of Ireland', which was originally created by Kevin, a  native of Carlingford.

Kevin is also the owner of the Carlingford Leprechaun and Fairy Cavern and Folklore Park which attracts 4000 + visitors a year who come and listen to his stories about Irish folklore.

The reimagining of ‘The Last Leprechauns of Ireland’ and the creation of the Carlichauns was the inspiration of Tim Patterson, ex BBC, Disney & Nickelodeon, & kids TV veteran.

Tim commented:

“When Kevin invited me to help modernise an element of Irish folklore, I jumped at the chance. Carlichauns is full of hope, magic & mild peril and laughs,” it is set in a kingdom  which is an eco-friendly fully sustainable subterranean world of myths, mystery, and magic.

A world of mystical beasts and magical folk. A secret world, hidden below Ireland’s Carlingford Lough between the Cooley and Mourne mountains.

Kevin Woods – Founder Carlichauns & Last Leprechaun Whisperer of Ireland, spoke of the process:

“I have loved every moment of this journey. My ambition has always been to truly market Carlingford and the Cooley Peninsula as a place of myth and legend to a worldwide audience.

“We are well on the way, having appeared on TV twenty-nine times, in Europe, Australia, USA and even Russia. The story has been the subject on several social media sites including You Tube, one has reached more than 4 million views, “ I survived the place where leprechauns live.”

“We have a super creative, financial and managerial team in place to make this happen.  Our recent acceptance  by Enterprise Ireland as a  new startup company leaves us supremely confident of success.”

In parallel, on and around St. Patrick’s Day 2024, in several locations in Dublin, Wicklow, Dun Laoghaire and Carlingford, we are launching a free immersive gaming app where kids and families can go on a Carlichauns Hunt.

Players must find the Carlichauns and send them back home to Carlingford where they can continue to embark on their missions to grant those special wishes from kids from all corners of the world – from New York to Tokyo, Turkey to Melbourne.

Carlichauns brand modernises elements of Irish folklore.  Built on a centuries old brand, born out of Carlingford’s Last Leprechauns of Ireland, they are telling the story of Carlingford’s very own leprechauns known affectionately as the Carlichauns.

In late-stage development the team behind the Carlichauns animation series are in the process of investigating and securing investment and partnership opportunities.
