The opening of a Pieta House centre in north Louth, was the aim of the Dundalk Darkness Into Light committee as in May it appealed to people in Dundalk to help make this year's walk the biggest yet.

The Darkness Into Light walk took place on Saturday 6 May, with the walk starting at 4.15am at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT).

Event Director, Cllr Seán Kelly, spoke to the Dundalk Democrat ahead of this year's event and said that “in order for us to get a Pieta centre for north Louth, we have to show, 'look how successful Darkness Into Light is, look at the work we've done here since it commenced in 2017'.

“That's why we want as many people as possible to come out – basically back our own.”
