Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) recently hosted a ‘Guest Lecture Series’ event in the Department of Hospitality and were thrilled to welcome an international speaker, Mr Patrick Brady.
Patrick Brady is a graduate of the University of Southern Florida; and most recently employed as a Sustainability Engineer at Cooper Island Beach Club which is an Eco Resort in the British Virgin Islands. Patrick's lecture focused on - Sustainable Resort Development and managing the infrastructure of an Eco Resort in a remote location.
This resort is completely off the grid, so Patrick presented the challenges in supplying electricity and water to their guests.
Dr Kevin Burns, Acting Head of the Department of Hospitality Studies, DkIT, said: “The guest lecture series greatly enriches the educational experience by exposing students to a wide range of knowledge, perspectives, and opportunities that they might not encounter in their regular coursework.
"It is a valuable addition to the School and Departments educational programs.
"Equally beneficial for colleagues and a source of professional development learning from the expertise and experience of others”.
This event was facilitated and organised by DkIT lecture James Browne.
