Kevin Burns, Elizabeth Murray with Indonesian Students
Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) recently welcomed ten International Mobility Scholarship recipients who will spend one semester in the Department of Hospitality in the Institute.
These Students are partaking in the Indonesian Vocational Education Ministry of Education (IISMA) programme, which is an open and dynamic academic exchange and plays an important role in preparing Indonesian students with the future-ready mindset, knowledge, and skills they need to succeed.
A spokesperson said:
"DkIT has been selected for this international programme due to the Institute’s renowned collaboration with prominent industry partners on an international scale; equally important is the DkITs' internationally recognised qualifications; and from a student’s perspective, the Institutes’ Hospitality Department is extremely experienced at hosting International Students."
As part of the ‘welcome’ to DkIT; the Hospitality Department hosted a Coffee afternoon – to see how the students were settling in and to informally meet the academic team.
Speaking at the event, a student said: "Living abroad for approximately five months will help me, as I’m an introverted person, I hope this experience will help me to be more comfortable with socializing, especially with new people. I have already made a lot of friends and good connections with students from all around the world. I am looking forward to finding out about Irish Hospitality and culture”.
