Louth County Council has given the go ahead for a new housing development at the Dublin Road in Dundalk.
Molaris Limited applied to Louth County Council on 21 December 2022 for planning permission for development on a site bound by the Dublin Road (R132) to the west, an existing dwelling to the north and an existing dwelling known as St Cecilia's to the south and by an open ditch to the east.
The development would see the demolition of an existing derelict structure on site and the construction of 39 dwellings, comprising six one-bed; 12 two-bed and 21 three bed homes, in a combination of houses and duplex apartments ranging in height from two to three storey. The duplex apartments are provided with balconies.
A new vehicular access is also planned from the R132 as part of the development, as well as all associated site development works.
Louth County Council sought further information on the proposed development in February of this year. Significant further information was provided to the local planning authority on 28 July, which included proposals to reduce the number of homes from 39 to 37.
The local planning authority granted conditional planning permission for the development on 8 September 2023.
