The Gateway Hotel Dundalk was officially launched today by the O’Callaghan Family Group represented by Matthew O’Callaghan and Denis Williams.

The Gateway Hotel is the new name for The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk. The iconic fourteen storey hotel towers over the Dundalk skyline and has become a well-known landmark in Dundalk. The new name was chosen to reflect the hotel being located as the gateway to both Dublin and Belfast, being only one hours drive to each city.

The O’Callaghan Family Group are also the proprietors of the nearby Fairways Hotel in Dundalk. The Gateway Hotel will be managed by

The iNUA Collection hotel group, also manage The Fairways Hotel.

iNua operate 13 hotels across Ireland including Muckross Park Hotel & Spa, The Hillgrove Hotel Monaghan and the Radisson Blu Hotels in Cork, Limerick, Athlone & Sligo.

The group have confirmed that all the existing management and employees who were previously employed by The Crowne Plaza Dundalk will continue to work at The Gateway Hotel and that all future bookings made with the hotel will be honoured and that it will be very much business as usual at the hotel.

The hotel boasts 129 guest bedrooms and suites, and has extensive conference facilities, including The Hamilton Suite, which accommodates over 300 guests and a further 8 boardrooms.

The new owners say they are planning a refurbishment programme of the hotel over the next few years.

Speaking about his new hotel, Matthew O’Callaghan, said:

"We're absolutely delighted to include the newly rebranded Gateway Hotel, Dundalk to our growing family business.

"We've acquired a landmark property in the town with an excellent team and a loyal clientele.

"We see huge potential for The Gateway Hotel, and we're excited to enhance the look and feel of the property in the months and years ahead."

Matthew continued:

"We've been playing our part to drive more tourism and conference business to the surrounding areas with The Fairways Hotel, by now having The Gateway Hotel five minutes away it will allow us to better coordinate those efforts to attract larger groups, conferences, and events to Dundalk. We expect that more activity in our hotels will translate to increased economic activity in the town and surrounding areas.

Sean O’Driscoll, CEO of the iNUA Collection commented:

"Today marks a significant milestone for our hotel group as we take over the management of The Gateway Hotel. We look forward to bringing our hospitality expertise and knowledge to The Gateway Hotel, ensuring that every guest will encounter exceptional friendly service and quality that defines our group brand. Together with Matthew O’Callaghan and Denis Williams, and the Gateway Hotel team we will look forward to enhancing the guest’s experience at The Gateway Hotel, Dundalk and attracting lots of new business to the town”
