The Provincial Towns Cup team meet Coollattin this Saturday (Aug 26th) in the first leg of the Provincial Towns Cup Final with the first of the seven singles matches due to tee off at 2pm in Dundalk. The second leg is scheduled for next month. All support would be greatly welcomed.
Best wishes are extended to ladies Revive Active Team who face Greenisland in Greenore in their All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday too.
Larry Hanratty won the Cochrane Cup over the weekend of August 12 and 13, but he had to rely on countback to edge out Eoin Hamill after the two were tied on 68 nett.
Hanratty, playing off 29, had a par at the fifth and four bogeys over the front nine as he shot 35 nett. Pars at the 11th and 13th followed and three more bogeys helped him come home in 33 nett.
Hamill, playing off 18, went out in 33 nett helped by five pars at the second, third, sixth, eighth and ninth. Four more followed down the back on 10, 13, 14 and 18 and there was also a birdie four at 12th but in the end, he came up short and had to settle for winning Division 2.
John Mulligan (11) captured Division 1 and John McLaughlin won Division 3, while the Gross Prize was won by Colin Roche with a two over par 74.
The McKenna Man Open Singles Stableford competition on Wednesday was won by Stephen Fitzpatrick (23) with 43pts, two better than Gerard Cluskey (24).
Division prizes were claimed by Eugene J Hanratty (10), Rory Henry (10) and Paul Hanratty (30) while Joseph Laverty recorded the best gross.

DUNDALK LADIES
Lady President Elizabeth McGuinness’s Prize to the Ladies was played on Tuesday, August 15. There was a packed timesheet, with all the ladies turning out in support of the great work our Lady President does.
The scoring was low, with Tina Kirk returning a superb 67 nett to claim the top prize. This was two shots clear of her nearest rival, Anne Murray.
Gillian Mc Donnell was the winner of Division 1, Joan Corrigan was the winner of Division 2 and Nicola Fee won Division 3. Teenager Katie Rowland won the gross prize and Clara Egan was the juvenile winner.
There was a very large turnout and great atmosphere in the Clubhouse at the presentation of prizes in honour of the Lady President.
Lady Captain Briege spoke on behalf of all members of Dundalk Golf Club when she thanked Lady President Elizabeth for her longstanding dedication to the club and its members. She also spoke of her unwavering support to teams, both home and away.
The Lady President was clearly delighted at such a successful event, and recited a beautiful poem she had composed, in which she thanked all members for their support and friendship.
Interclub preparations continue for the All-Ireland quarter finals of the Revive Active and Junior Cup with the Revive Action first out this Saturday when they face Greenisland in Greenore with the first match due to tee off at 11:50am.
Our neighbours Greenore and Baltray have been very kind in providing friendly opposition in the run-up to the quarter finals. We are very grateful for their support.
