DUNDALK GAELS 1-8
GLEN EMMETS 2-6
Celebrations at the end proved obsolete by the end of the night as Glen Emmets thought they had secured safety over Lann Léire with two late points from Conor Grimes.
The county man shaking off Dundalk Gaels who, themselves were in the three team mix for a relegation play off.Despite the rudimentary thinking that three teams on the same points goes to score difference, the county board later confirmed that in the case of a split season it goes to how many points were amassed during the split.
And so it was Lann Léire with the worst score difference of those involved that pulled off the unlikely escape. Glen Emmets were pulled down to the relegation play-off place having amassed the lowest points since the split.
Goals from either half from Eoghan Maguire looked to have set the Tullyallen men up for the so called escape and Ray Lambe’s side even held off Thomas O’Connell’s Gaels surge for the meaningless win in the end.
