August Bank Holiday weekend rail services in Louth to be affected by line works

Iarnród Éireann says it wished to remind customers of revised train times across the August Bank Holiday weekend, which will affect users of the service in Louth.

Changes to services include a series of line works on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August, which will see the line closed between Malahide and Drogheda, affecting Northern Commuter and Enterprise services, as well as general bank holiday service changes across all routes.

Due to a series of track and train protection system works taking place between Malahide and Drogheda on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August, the following service alterations are in place on both dates:

  • Dublin to Belfast Enterprise: A revised timetable is in operation, with bus transfers between Dublin Connolly and Drogheda.  Check www.irishrail.ie for details.
  • Dublin to Drogheda/Dundalk Commuter: No trains will operate between Malahide and Drogheda.  A limited bus substitution service will operate, operating two routes between:
    • Drogheda, Balbriggan, Donabate and Connolly
    • Skerries, Rush and Lusk, and Connolly

Customers are advised to check times before travel, and to book Intercity travel in advance – particularly at busiest times – at www.irishrail.ie or the Iarnród Éireann app.

Extra trains for Croke Park and Aviva fixtures

Extra trains will operate for major matches as follows:

  • Ireland v Italy rugby, Saturday 5th August, Aviva: Extra DART services will operate before and after the match.  In addition, 23:45hrs Dublin Heuston to Cork service will operate, with a connection at Limerick Junction to Limerick. The additional Cork/Limerick trains are available to book at www.irishrail.ie and the Iarnród Éireann app.
  • Waterford v Cork All-Ireland Camogie Final, Sunday 6th August, Croke Park: Extra trains, and additional capacity, will operate from Waterford and Cork to Dublin Heuston, and return.  These are available to book at www.irishrail.ie and the Iarnród Éireann app.  A very limited number of tickets remain, and these trains are expected to be sold out.
  • Man Utd v AC Bilbao, Sunday 6th August, Aviva: Extra DART services will operate before and after the match.
