Dundalk League Roundup: Saints take control of fight for the title

St Dominics beat Carrick Rovers to go two points clear of Muirhevnamor at the top of the Dundalk & District League

By virtue of this away win, St Dominic's went top of the League on 21 points, two clear of Muirhevnamor. Niall Mackin put the Saints in front with Dillon Thornton and Ryan Duffy adding the other scores. Jerome Abekyamwale with his 3rd strike of the season got Carrick's consolation goal.

Glenmuir United 2 Bellurgan United 0

Glenmuir became the 1st team this season to win five consecutive games as they surged up the table.

A great shot from Chris Stewart on 36 minutes put the hosts in front. With both sides spurning chances in a very enjoyable contest, Glenmuir were awarded a free kick just outside the Bellurgan penalty area.

It saw the visitors' John Smith sent off with 10 minutes remaining.  A brilliant free kick from Lennon O'Hanlon gave Shane Rogan no chance as the home side went 2-0 up.

Minutes later Bellurgan were awarded a penalty which the home keeper brillianttly saved, snuffing out any chance of a late fight back.

Bay United 4 Muirhevnamor 6

Muirhevnamor moved up to second spot with this win in a high scoring game on the Rock Road pitch. A Paul Mallon brace had the visitors ahead after 24 minutes. By the 42nd minute Bay were level at two apiece.

Micky O'Kane restored the Blues lead on 44 minutes only for Bay to level once more before the break. Liam McStravick with a brace and Taylor Murphy getting those scores.

Two goals from Toheeb Agonbiade and one from Conal Mulvenna put the visitors 6-3 ahead before Stefan Wesley got one back for Bay. Both sides were reduced to 10 men before the final whistle.

Rock Celtic 0 Shamrocks 6

An Adara Akinade hattrick, along with goals from Dean Brown, Aaron Casey and James O'Connor got Shamrocks back on track after two defeats in a row.
