Carlingford to Omeath sponsored walk

Ó Fiaich College sponsored walk in aid of Dundalk Dog Rescue

On Thursday 25 May, the sun shone brightly as 66 students and staff from Ó Fiaich College took to the Greenway in Carlingford.  They completed a 7km sponsored walk from Carlingford to Omeath in a bid to raise vital funds for Dundalk Dog Rescue.

The fundraising idea began following a trip to the Dundalk Dog Rescue Centre where Paddy shared his passion for the dogs. The students were delighted to meet the dogs and liked the idea of raising money to help. They learned that they could sponsor a kennel if they could collect €365.

The sponsor cards were printed and distributed and before long the money was rolling in, above and beyond  all expectations. The walk proved to be a huge success with both staff and students agreeing that it was such a worthwhile experience and cause.

To conclude the college's journey with Dundalk Dog Rescue Centre, Bobby Wain, the DDR school liaison person, visited Ó Fiaich College with four of his dogs.

Bobby was a most cheerful sight and a welcome distraction for the students who were in the midst of summer exams. The college was delighted to hand over a cheque totalling €1,150, which shows there’s a lot of doggy love out there!
