St Gerard’s dominate at Louth Juvenile Relay Championships

Dundalk St Gerard's two U12 Boys teams on the podium at the Louth Juvenile Relay Championships

The recently held Louth Juvenile Relay Championships in Drogheda served up a whirlwind of action from start to finish.

In what was a superbly organised competition. Dundalk St Gerard’s relay teams dominated with five Gold, three Silver and three Bronze team medals. 11 of the club’s 12 teams competing on the night graced the podium.

DSG’s athletes, coaches and parents always look forward to this event in the calendar. The camaraderie and teamwork so often enjoyed amongst the wonderful youngsters were once again on display in abundance.

And the incredible excitement throughout the evening was palpable, as the athletes demonstrated great competitive spirit and fully deserved their team rewards.

The U9 Boys team of Tommy McCourt, Reuben Talbot, Harry Trimble and Cian Rafferty claimed the first Gold of the evening, followed by the U11 Girls team made up of Sadie Callan, Autumn Moran, Lucy Molloy and Katelynn Woods, who also secured first.

Next up were Wren Kerley, Lily Rogers, Kate Hegarty and Kasi McCarthy, the U13 Girls team which raced hard to secure third. The U15 Girls - Ellie Cunningham, Lara Byrne, Alannah Cumiskey and Issey McGeogh placed 4th, narrowly missing out on podium position.

The even ages relays got underway with the U10 Girls Team consisting of Éabha Durnin, Grace Culligan, Kourtney McKeever, Anna Gladysz bagging a silver.

DSG fielded two U10 Boys Teams on the evening. Thomas Hughes, Fiachra Devin, Aidan Rafferty and Cian Rafferty took Silver, while Pearse Murphy, Louis Behan, Sean Kenny and Fionn Weldon Grant claimed Bronze.

Robyn Garland, Charlotte Trimble, Robyn Browne and Kallie Fisher delivered a stellar team performance to scoop Gold in the U12 Girls relay with Chloe Browne, Caoimhe McEvoy, Aimee Quinn, Lucy Rogers taking home silver.

The U12 Boys of St Gerard’s also had two teams competing. Sam Curran, Ryan Dowd, Calvin McCourt, and Evan Cheshire took Gold while Patrick Murphy, Luke Duffy, Adam Mulligan and Fane Kelly claimed Bronze.

Rounding off a fantastic night of team performances were the U14 Girls, who took the fifth Gold for St Gerards. Meghan Hughes, Anna Duffy, Aoife Murphy and Rebeccah Trimble romped home in style to end a fantastic day’s racing for all involved with St Gerard’s.
