County Louth saw a slight monthly decrease in the number of people signing on the Live Register in May, according to figures released on Friday by the Central Statistics Office.
7,623 people signed on the Live Register in Louth last month, down 63 on the 7,686 who signed on in April.
On an annual basis however, the number has increased by 153 or 2% on the 7,470 that signed on the Live Register in May 2022.
Looking at the figures more locally, in Dundalk 3,465 signed on in May, which is seven more than in April, and 65 more than in May 2022.
In Ardee, 786 people signed on last month, which is 16 more than in April, but just two more than in May 2022.
In Drogheda, 3,372 people signed on in May, down 86 on the 3,458 in April, but up 86 on May 2022.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for May 2023 was 182,000 persons, up by 800 or 0.4% from April 2023.
The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 176,999 persons for May 2023.
Of the 176,999 persons on the unadjusted Live Register in May 2023, 53.6% were male and 69.2% were Irish.
The 35-44 age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in May 2023 at 41,985 persons or 23.7%.
