Louth LGFA have announced their newest fundraising event, The Win a Wee Van Contest, which they will run in association with one of their main sponsors Blackstone Motors.

The draw is a way for the county board to fund the development of Ladies Football in Louth, at both club and inter county level, as the costs of running teams from U14 all the way up to adult level continues to increase.

The main prize is a Renault Kangoo Van, or €20,000 in cash. Tickets cost €20 and can be purchased from your local club. They will also be available at Louth matches throughout the Summer and beyond or online at winaweevan.com, with the draw set to take place later this year.

“Participation levels among girls in Louth is continuously increasing, but to meet the corresponding financial demands that this increased participation levels bring, it is necessary to be pro-active in raising funds” stressed a statement on the draw’s website.

“Louth LGFA currently have county teams competing at Under 14, Under 16, Minor and Senior level, and need to be in a position to support these squads in line with the best modern practices.

“It is also important to continue to promote the game among the young girls of the county and increased funding will aid those efforts.”

Delegates from clubs across the county were in attendance at the launch of the draw, which was held at Dundalk showrooms of Blackstone Motors, the suppliers of the van.

There was also a plethora of players and management from a variety of the Louth county teams, including Senior manager Kit Henry and captain Aine Breen.
