People in Louth urged to Go Purple for National Domestic Violence Day

Drogheda Women’s and Children's Refuge are calling on members of the public to #GoPurple on Friday 28 of April to raise awareness of domestic violence and to raise funds for their services.

The refuge are asking members of the public to show their solidarity for women experiencing and exiting domestic violence by embracing the colour purple for one day.

People are encouraged to get involved on the day by wearing, cooking, decorating, painting or eating something purple and sharing it on social media using the hashtag #GoPurple.

Additionally, you can support DWCR in their other fundraising activities this week by;

  • Support #GoPurple Flower Raffle and be in with a chance of winning a beautiful purple flower bouquet/arrangement created by local award-winning florists and worth over €50 each.You can do this by purchasing a ticket (€5e each) via IDonate link https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/gopurple2023 or alternatively through the website http://droghedarefuge.org/ or in person in Scotch Hall and The Town Centre on Saturday the 29th  and in the Refuge's dedicated Butterfly Boutique in Stockwell Street.
  • Making a donation to our Purple Bucket collections throughout the participating 15 cafés, hairdresser and beauty salons in Drogheda and surrounding areas, 
  • Purchasing a purple flower crochet pin and wearing it.
  • Following, liking and sharing Drogheda Women’s and Children’s Refuge and Butterfly Boutique’s social media posts with your friends and family.
