Cara Meile taking part in the U15 Long Jump event at the Leinster Indoor Juvenile Championships
Earlier this month the Redeemer Athletic club colours were well represented at the Leinster Indoor Juvenile Championships in Athlone. All represented the club with pride, with some impressive showings across many disciplines.
Ronan Norton was in action the boy’s U12 Shot put. He finished up with a super showing, a new PB of 6.08M seeing him grab eight position in his first championships.
Emma Byrne took part in three events and recorded personal bests in all of them. A fine jump of 3.54M saw her place 16th in the long jump. She also qualified for the semi-final of the 60m sprint, setting a new PB of 9.15 seconds and also equalled her PB in the High Jump, 1.20M being enough to come ninth overall.
Competing in his first Championships was Evin Lagan, who finished 4th in the U13 Boy’s High Jump, setting a strong PB of 1.30M. He also set new PB's in the 60M Hurdles (12.36 secs) and in the shot put, throwing 5.64M.
Elsewhere in the U13 events, Nathan O'Hagan set two new PB’s in the 60M Hurdles of 12.02 and the shot put of 5.74M, while Harry McGuinness threw his longest shot put effort to date in his first Championships, throwing 3.85M.
Over in the U14 category, Chloe Conway performed exceptionally well throwing 6.68M in the shot. In the U15 events, Annmary Toner jumped to a new PB in the Long jump and performed well in the 60m.
Cara Miele also performed very well in the long jump, but saved the best for last, soaring to a bronze medal in the high jump. Congratulations to all of our athletes who all performed exceptionally well against very strong opposition.
Special congratulations to Cara Miele who took home a bronze medal in the high jump and Evin Lagan who finished 4th in the high jump, as both athletes now qualify for the National Indoor Championships at the end of the month.
