President of Dundalk Chamber of Commerce, Una McGoey
Dundalk Chamber of Commerce says it welcomes the Windsor Framework and believes that this has significantly addressed the concerns of unionists, while at the same time reinforcing the existing trading relationships North South.
The Windsor Framework is the proposed agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom, announced this week, that seeks to address issues between the European Single Market and the United Kingdom in the current Northern Ireland Protocol.
Una McGoey, President of Dundalk Chamber, said that the new agreement confirms that the increase in trade North-South over the past three years will continue and increase. This will help to secure the economic prosperity of the area. She stressed that the M1 Corridor region of Drogheda-Dundalk-Newry is in an ideal position to now grow even stronger.
Paddy Malone, PRO of Dundalk Chamber, pointed out that the Chamber will be holding, with Newry Chamber, the 7th conference post the Brexit vote.
He said that the mood has now changed from fear of tariffs and quotas to one of expansion and opportunity for doing trade in both directions. He also stated that the Minister for Enterprise, Simon Coveney would be addressing the conference, which underlines the opportunities that now exist on the M1 corridor
