David Keenan appearing on the programme
The Irish language magazine series, I Lár an Aonaigh, is back with a new series starting on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two Northern Ireland from Monday 13th February at 10pm.
The first episode will feature a performance by Dundalk singer-songwriter David Keenan performing his track Raving towards Byzantium
Over four weeks, presenters Máire Bhreathnach and Dáithí Ó Muirí are joined by reporter Seán Ó Baoill for a mix of stories, chat and some great musical performances.
I Lár an Aonaigh is made for BBC Gaeilge by Below The Radar TV with support from Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund.
The four-part serieswill include a variety of special guests including poet Theo Dorgan, actor Siobhán O’Kelly, author and musician Tristan Rosenstock and novelist and journalist Anna Heussaff.
Once again there will be a great mix of music, from traditional and indie folk to afrobeat.
There will also be performances from Belfast band Lonesome George, Donegal trad sensations Cathal Ó Curráin and Megan Nic Fhionnghaile and songbird Aoife Scott of the iconic Black family.
Series Producer Sinéad Ingoldsby said:
“It’s lovely to be back with another series of I Lár an Aonaigh and brilliant to finally have an audience back in studio too.
“We have a great mix of guests and music lined up again this year along with features celebrating artists of all descriptions - exploring everything from art activism to the revival of Irish language film, Brendan Behan 100 years on to Art Therapy and lots more."
