An application has been lodged this week with Louth County Council, for a Large Scale Residential Development (LRD) in Dundalk, that would see, if given the go ahead, 183 new homes built.
McParland Bros Builders Limited has applied to Louth County Council for planning permission for an LRD for 183 new homes, along with a creche at Bellfield, Haggardstown, Dundalk. The location of the development is at the Dublin Road, on the right hand side leaving Dundalk, just after the Xerox Industrial Estate and before the Fairways.
The proposed 183 new homes are in a mix of houses and apartments. 64 houses are in the plans, comprising 48 three bed units and 16 four bed units.
There are 119 apartments/duplex units planned, comprising 21, one bed; 57, two bed; and 41 three bed units across six blocks ranging in height up to six storeys.
The application also provides items including, car parking; electric vechicle charging points with associated infrastructure; use of existing access from Dublin Road with associated upgrade works; and internal access roads and footpaths and associated connections to the existing Bellfield residential estate.
LRDs replace the previous Strategic Housing Development (SHD) process where applications went to An Bord Pleanála for determination. They are defined as:

According to information on the Louth County Council planning system, a decision is due on the application by 26 March 2023, with submissions due by 5 March.
