Maldron Hotel in Manchester denies claims of price gouging following Oasis tour announcement

The Maldron Hotel has released a statement regarding claims that the hotel group cancelled bookings in order to resell rooms at a higher price for when Oasis bring their tour to Manchester next summer.

The Maldron Hotel, owned by Ireland's Delta Group, has denied cancelling bookings on August 26 to hike prices following the announcement by the iconic native band that they would be returning to the stage.

The two affected hotels were Maldron Hotel Manchester City and Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter.

The hotel said that it was "due to a technical error" that their booking system booked "substantially more rooms" than were available for the nights of the Oasis concerts on July 11, 12,19, and 20.

Due to the technical error, the hotel group said that they were "unable to honour all bookings made on these dates, and we are actively engaging with customers regarding that booking."

They went on to say that these hotels are "currently not taking any bookings while we investigate the issue."

Those who were able to book rooms at a higher price following the cancellations have also now been told that the hotel will "be unable to accommodate these bookings."

All bookings made prior to August 26 will however be honoured.
