Public warned not to swim at popular Louth beach

Members of the public are advised not to swim at the location until the prohibition has been lifted.

Louth County Council has issued a temporary bathing prohibition at Clogherhead Beach.

This follows elevated results from water sampling carried out on Monday, 14th July. As a result, the beach has been closed until further notice.

An investigation is underway, in coordination with the EPA and HSE, and resampling is scheduled to take place in the coming days.

Members of the public are advised not to swim at the location until the prohibition has been lifted.

Further updates will be issued on the Louth County Council website in due course.
