Louth County Council gives go ahead for a student accommodation facility at Wrightson's Lane in Dundalk.

Louth County Council has granted planning permission for a student accommodation facility at Wrightson's Lane in Dundalk.

Jordan Homes IRL Limited applied to Louth County Council in June, for planning permission for the development at Wrightson's Lane, 42/43 Clanbrassil Street, Dundalk, seeking the go ahead for the change of use of a recorded protected structure, a mid 19th century stone warehouse, from a derelict commercial warehouse unit to a student accommodation facility.

The proposed works comprise the refurbishment and conversion of the existing four-storey storage building to a three-storey residential building including an access lobby / reception area, circulation areas and a new access stairwell serving the second and third floors, communal living space areas, storage and utility areas.

Second and third floor bedroom accommodation is planned consisting of 22 self-contained bedrooms, 11 per floor.

The planning application also provides for elevational changes, connection to existing public services and all associated site works.

Louth County Council sought further information from the developer in July on the proposed development, which was supplied to the local planning authority on 11 August.

The local planning authority granted planning permission for the development on 4 September, subject to 14 planning conditions.
