A motorcycle was seized by Gardaí in Dundalk after the rider was stopped by members of the Dundalk Roads Policing Unit.

According to a post from An Garda Síochána Louth, the rider was observed travelling while wearing shorts and a T-shirt, with Gardaí warning of the serious injuries that can result from coming off a motorcycle without appropriate protective clothing.

When the rider was stopped, Gardaí discovered that they held a learner permit but were riding an unrestricted motorcycle.

Under the licensing rules, a learner permit holder under the age of 25 must ride a motorcycle that complies with the applicable power-to-weight restrictions.

Gardaí subsequently seized the motorcycle as the rider did not hold the appropriate licence to ride it.
