Dundalk Poetry Festival returns with a weekend of readings, music and celebration

Events to take place at Roe River Books, Louth County Museum and the Spirit Store
Dundalk Poetry Festival returns this year on Friday 29th May and Saturday 30th May. Festival attendees can look forward to poetry readings, workshops, live music and a lively open mic night.
On Saturday 30th May, Dundalk Writers will welcome Annemarie Ní Churreáin and Ron Carey. Annemarie is a poet from the Donegal Gaeltacht and has won many awards. Ron is an award winning poet from Limerick but based in Dublin who began writing seriously in his sixties.
Both poets will read from their collections in Dundalk County Museum at 2pm on Saturday 30th May. Traditional musician Róisín Ward Morrow will perform at the reading.
Later that evening at 8.00pm in the Spirit Store, a Poetry Open Mic will bring together visiting festival poets and members of Dundalk Writers. Music by North Louth band Ridibundi.
A highlight of this year’s festival is the special opening event in Roe River Books on Friday 29th May at 5:30pm. This event celebrates Seamus Heaney’s groundbreaking book North and there will be readings and reflections by visiting poets.
This will be followed with a reading by Fermanagh poet Trish Bennett who is a seasoned performer with an entertaining style. Music will be performed by Ines Tola.
Dundalk Writers are grateful to their supportive partners: Louth County Council, Visit Louth, County Museum Dundalk and Roe River Books, Spirit Store.
