Cars parking on Earl Street in Dundalk is still an ongoing issue Independent councillor Maeve Yore told December’s meeting of Dundalk Municipal District. Councillor Yore sought an update on the situation calling it an “abuse of a pedestrainised street.”
“Myself and I'm sure several other councilors have raised this, and I'm fed up raising it to tell the truth,” she said.
“When are the bollards going to be replaced and repaired?
“There were nine cars [parked] last Thursday, and there were 13 cars and vans and things the Friday before that.
“The businesses are fed up because it's impacting on them. There's people actually rocking up now to Dealz with their family, hopping out the car, doing the grocery shopping for the week and hopping back in and off they go with free parking.”

Senior Executive Engineer Paddy Connolly, told the meeting in response that a contractor had been out looking at the bollards on Monday and he has had to go back to the manufacturer, adding: “There's more to it than just meets the eye. But in the meantime, what I'm doing is I'm getting prices in, just in the event that we have to step away from the existing [setup]."
