Muirhevnamor FC 1-3 Carlingford Celtic

A big crowd saw last season's Dundalk and District League treble winners get off to a perfect start, with Coran Lindsey bagging a brace after just 17 minutes of play.

Lindsey looks like a ready-made replacement for last season's top scorer, Peter Shields, who has gone to Australia.

Failing to add to their two goals, the visitors were rocked by a superb header goal from Colm Bracken on the 60th minute.

Bracken, a league winner with St. Dominics in 2023, should complement the ageless Mickey O'Kane in the 'Mor frontline.

The game was evenly balanced right up to the 87th minute, when TJ McCabe put the green and whites 3-1 ahead from close range.

Rampart Celtic 1-0 Shamrock FC

A goal scored after 10 minutes of play by Ramparts Brennan Rogers proved decisive in this evenly contested league match.

A fine save by Aaron Conway, close to half-time, sent his team into the break with their slender lead.

A goal-line clearance by Rampart on the 75th minute was hotly disputed by the Fatima side, but Referee Paul Malone was unmoved. Minutes later, Rampart hit the woodwork.

Despite Shamrock pressing hard until the final whistle, Aran Conway in the Rampart nets became the first keeper to have a clean sheet this season.

Last season, he was the only goalkeeper to score a goal from play while playing with Bay United. Aaron McKeever was the Shamrocks' outstanding performer in their defence.

Haynestown Celtic 2-3 Parkside FC

Haynestown, despite going 2-0 ahead, were shocked by Parkside, who hit back in their debut game to emerge 3-2 victors.

Sahoon Buye, who netted 9 goals last season, put the home side in front. Nikolaj Wielgosz added to that opener, but before the fight-back began.

A brace by Kaylem Hutchinson brought the newcomers level, before Camryn Mostyn sealed Parkside's victory.

A glorious win for the youngest club in the league, which was founded in the 1905/6 season

Note: Faughart Rovers' match against Square United, and Muirhevnamor FC's game against Carrick Rovers will be covered in next week’s report
