Dundalk FC return to Good Friday action this evening with a trip to Tolka Park to face Shelbourne FC in the League of Ireland Men's Premier Division at 7.45pm.

The Lilywhites enter the game in decent shape, having suffered just one defeat so far; they currently occupy fifth place in the table and are two points behind the Reds.

Dundalk manager Ciarán Kilduff shared his thoughts with the official club website ahead of the game.

He said: “As we go into our final game of the first round on matchday nine, we’re obviously very happy with how we’ve performed in the majority of our games so far this season.

“We’re going up against a really tough team in a very difficult fixture and a tough place to go, but we’ll have no fear, as always.

“We’ll try to do everything right and to the best of our ability, and hopefully that will be enough to get us a positive result.

“We’ve had brilliant travelling support for all of our games so far this season, and it really hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“We hope tomorrow is more of the same because we’re going to need them. I think the players are really excited after the international break.

“The break probably came at a good time in terms of getting some bodies recovered and getting lads back, although we had a good run of form in terms of results too, so we just hope we can carry on where we left off.

“Hopefully, we’ll have a little bit more depth within the squad, but that will only be confirmed once the lads get through some late fitness tests. We’re looking forward to it."

In team news, there are doubts over Lilywhites' Ronan Teahan, Danny Mullen, Conor O’Keeffe and Mayowa Animasahu. Midfielder Aodh Dervin completes his suspension, while Leo Gaxha is back training, and Rob Cornwall remains out.

Young centre back Vinnie Leonard is recovering from illness, while Norman Garbett and Luke Mulligan are still sidelined.
