This is Haynestown's first season in football, and they have shown that their young team could go all the way to probably winning the coveted trophy.
In their league meetings this season, Square got a walkover from Haynestown in the opening round of fixtures. When they met again, Square were 4-3 winners.
The Ardee side finished third in the league with Haynestown in fourth position. It was more of an upset than a shock result, to give the newcomers their due.
The scorers for the winners were Mohamed Kaji, Dwayne Markey, Karim Douch and Rory Phealan. Three of them were notching their maiden goals for the club; only Karim Douch had scored prior to this game.
Ross Gaynor bagged a brace for Square, taking him to 14 goals for the season. Arouna Sanogo, with his fifth strike of the campaign, got the Ardee side's other goal.
Carrick Rovers 3-3 Muirhevnamor FC (Carrick win 4-3 on penalties)
The magic of the McConville Cup was highlighted again in Carrick when six goals were shared, before 13-time winners Muirhevnamor came out on top 4-3, in a penalty shoot-out.
In league games, both teams won their away fixture, so it was no surprise that the dreaded penalties were required to separate them after a great cup tie. Oisin McNally scored twice for the home side, bringing his tally for the season to six goals.
Their other goal was an own goal. Micky O'Kane found the net twice, and Daniel Duffy got one for the visitors.
Micky O'Kane moved into second spot in the scoring charts, one goal behind Carlingford's Peter Shields, who has 21 to his credit. Daniel Duffy was netting his 11th goal this term. The penalty shoot-out was won 4-3 by the Dundalk side.
Rampart Celtic 4-2 Redeemer Celtic
Rampart Celtic were put to the limit, to overcome Redeemers' best performance this season and reach the semi-finals of the coveted Brian McConville cup.
Sean McGrane gave Redeemer a dream start on five minutes, pouncing on a loose ball before the Rampart keeper, to find the net.
With the game being played at a fast pace, it took favourites Rampart 17 minutes to get on terms, Josh Curtis Larkin striking from inside the six-yard box.
Both sides concentrated on attack, but it took a penalty in the 43rd minute for the home side to take a half-time lead, Ronan Bailey doing the honours.
Midway through the second half, Lee Wright finally gave Rampart some breathing space, latching onto a superb pass to fire Rampart further ahead.
Oran McParland, who was outstanding for Redeemer throughout, gave the league runners-up many worrying moments until Ronan Bailey dispatched another penalty to make 4-2.
In the added time, Oran McParland got his just reward when he broke from midfield to rifle past the keeper for the last incident in a great cup tie. We wish Ronan Bailey a speedy recovery from his late injury.
Faughart Rovers 2-7 Carlingford Celtic
Carlingford kept their triple hopes very much alive with this resounding win over Faughart Rovers.
Three of the Travelling players bagged a brace apiece, Peter Shields going top of the scoring charts with 23 goals, Eddie Duffy brought his season's tally to 14, and Eamon Sheelan got his maiden goals for the club.
Aoghan McGuinness got a solitary strike. David Gray and Rorie Ball got Faugharts' scores. This quarter-final victory sees Carlingford into the semi-final of the Fastfix Brian McConville Cup.
