League leaders Dundalk FC welcome Athlone Town to Oriel Park tonight in a fixture that pits first against last. The Lilywhites sit comfortably at the summit with 58 points, while Athlone are rooted to the bottom on just 17.
The hosts have taken three wins from their last five outings, Athlone, in contrast, have endured a tough run, failing to win in the same period with three defeats and two draws.

The sides are already familiar foes this season. They played out a goalless draw in Athlone back in May, but the season opener in February was a tighter affair, settled by Vinnie Leonard’s strike ten minutes before the break.
With the title race entering its final stretch, Dundalk will be eager to avoid any slip-ups against a struggling Athlone side desperate to salvage pride.
Speaking ahead of the game, manager Ciarán Kilduff told the official club website: "Luke Mulligan picked up a bit of a knock and won’t be available for a couple of weeks.
"Norman Garbett is back in contention which is a boost. We’re still without Ethen Vaughan, Leo Gaxha, and Seán McHale for now, but we have good depth and energy heading into this one.”
