Dundalk Cricket Club failed to pick up a win in last weekend’s league action, with both the Seconds and Thirds going the distance in high run chases but falling short.
On Saturday the 19th, the Seconds made the long away journey to the south-east to face Wexford Wanderers.

Bowling first, Regin Samuel led the way for the visitors, removing Wexford’s opening four batters – however number three Prince Antony had helped the home side to 168-7 by the time he was removed.
Chasing an eventual 178, Dundalk looked to be out of the picture at just 81-7 with 25 overs gone, before a 52-run partnership between bowling pair Adarsh Hegde and Binu Sekara gave the town a glimmer of hope late on.
In the end it was Prince Antony who came back to haunt Dundalk again by cleaning up the lower order on his way to figures of 6-16 off 6.3 overs.
It was a similar story for Dundalk 3 the next day, who hosted Division 20 leaders County Cavan 2 at Hiney Park in the first ever competitive game between the two clubs.
Dundalk’s individual performance of the weekend came in the first innings when youth bowler Muhammad Abdullah took his first six wickets for DCC in only his second ever bowling spell, removing batters 4 through 9 for final figures of 6-50 off his 7 overs – the club’s second-best bowling figures of the season.
Unfortunately the visitors still put enough on the board to keep the Thirds at bay, an eventual 48-run victory keeping Dundalk 3 seventh in the league standings.
Be sure to check back next week for a full report on the first team’s T20 cup semi-final against Mullingar.
