In their Saturday home tie against Wexford Wanderers, long-standing Dundalk wicket-keeper Regin Samuel was the difference between the sides, taking no fewer than five catches with the gloves (an all-time club record) and scoring his first half-century for over two years, clinching a first league win of the season for Dundalk 2.

The first and third teams both lost narrowly defending low totals. Dundalk 1 will rue a high extras count which enabled Finglas to claim a two-wicket win in Poppintree Park.

In the Sunday home fixture, in-form Dundalk 3 keeper Ben Murahwi made his first 50 for the club in a close-run defeat to visitors Carlow 3 which keeps our newly-formed thirds rooted to the bottom of Division 20.

This weekend’s league fixtures: Naas 2 v Dundalk 2 (Sat Jul 5, away), Mullingar 2 v Dundalk 1 (Sun Jul 6, away), Terenure 5 v Dundalk 3 (Sun Jul 6, away).
