John Mulligan shot the best score of the weekend in the 14 Hole Singles Stableford competition held on February 22 and 23. Playing off nine he shot 35pts to win Division 2 with a round that included a birdie on the second, 10 pars and three bogeys.
Bobby McCarthy (7) won Division 1 with a score of 30tps that included birdies at the ninth and 14th and eight pars. Division 3 was won by Michael McNamara whose round of 32pts contained six three point pars.

Division 4 winner David Corrigan (28) shot 34pts with his round featuring two four point pars at the 14th and 17th and five three-point bogeys. Thank you to everybody who supported the Table Quiz in aid of Junior Golf last Thursday.
Tickets are now on sale for the concert with Eleanor Shanley and Mike Hanrahan on Friday, April 5, in the Clubhouse. Pre-concert meals can be booked through the Restaurant.

Pat Devine was our overall winner this weekend, shooting a brilliant 34pts on Saturday morning. No doubt the highlight of Pats round came on the par 4 7th hole a brilliant eagle 2.
Division 1 was won by Shane Corr on a score of 30pts. Shane shot a round of two under par to win by one shot.
John Rouiller has been playing some brilliant golf over the winter, and it continued on Saturday, shooting a score of 32pts to win Division 2.
Division 3 was won by Andy Dolan with a score of 33pts. An incredible 12pts on his final four holes was just enough for Andy to win on the count back. Runner-up was Anthony Burns on 33pts.
Winter League Week 7 - 14th, 15th and 16th February -
Overall Winner - Pat Devine (PH.17) – 34pts; Division 1 - 1st - Shane Corr (PH.3) – 30pts; Division 2 - 1st - John Rouiller (PH.14) – 32pts; Division 3 - 1st - Andy Dolan (PH.23) - 33pts c/b; 2nd - Anthony Burns (PH.20) – 33pts.
Niall Conlon won Division 1 with a score of 27pts. The highlight of Niall’s round came with a birdie 2 on the 12th hole. Division 2 was won by Joe McGeown. Joe is playing some brilliant golf of late and showed again with a great score of 30pts.
Simon Kelly won Division 3 with an impressive score of 35pts over 12 holes. A brilliant young golfer who will definitely be one to watch out for this year.

Mannan Castle Seniors Men
Mannan Castle Seniors nine hole weekly competition proved to be as competitive as always this week. Fine margins settled where the prizes went.
Kevin Gavigan (10) pipped Terry Doherty (15) on count back with both scoring 24 points. Kevin's back five of 13 was one better than Terry's. Kevin had five pars on his card and was the overall victory. Terry's consolation was as winner of Category 3.
Category 1 winner was Kieran Crozier (7) making a successful return to golf after a break due to injury. His card also featured five pars in his 21 points.
Category 2 was fought out between playing partners Finbar Boylan (10) and Donard McCabe (10).
It went to count back and after being level over the last five and the last three Finbar took the prize with a par on the final hole. Both scored 22 points.
Tuesday 18th February - 9 hole competition (9 hole handicap) - Overall: Kevin Gavigan (10) 24pts c/b; Category 1: Kieran Crozier (7) 21pts; Category 2: Finbar Boylan (10) 22pts c/b; Category 3: Terry Doherty (15) 24pts.
Mannan Castle Seniors weekly competition continued last week. Played over 11 holes there was once again a large turnout of eager senior golfers.
Scoring proved to be exceptionally good with none better on the day than Finbar Boylan (19). His round was error free and three pars and a birdie on hole 4 helped him to a remarkable 28 points.
He was subject to a two point deduction for his category the previous week but his nett 26 points was still good enough for overall victory.
Category 1 was fiercely contested with no less than 5 players finishing on 22 points. Graeme Woodcock (15) managed to separate himself from the rest for a good win.
He was eight over par for the first five holes but recovered brilliantly to shoot one over par for his final six holes to win the category.
Category 2 also had multiple players on the same score. There were four finishing on 23 points led home by Kevin Gavigan (19) on countback.
Kevin had an overall win the previous week and so his score of 25 was subject to a deduction leaving him on a nett 23.
Category 3 had no such complications and Sean Harvey (25) with 25 points was the clear winner. Sean had a very steady round with four pars on his card.
Tuesday 25th February 11 Hole Competition - Overall: Finbar Boylan (19) 26pts (28-2); Category 1: Graeme Woodcock (15) 22pts C/B;Category 2: Kevin Gavigan (19) 23pts (25-2) C/B; Category 3: Sean Harvey (25) 25pts.
Mannan Castle Ladies
With just one day's play possible this week, Margaret Crawley makes a return to winning ways. Following a stumble on the seventh a birdie on the eighth triggered a storming second half of her round to finish with 28 points.
Three players finished with the same points but only two places on offer this week. Ali Ellis started with three pars and kept the points ticking over to take second place on countback.
Women's Spring Weekly 13 Hole 19th February 2025 - 1st Margaret Crawley. (27) 28 pts; 2nd Ali Ellis. (20) 28 pts c/b.
Things are hotting up in the 'Spring League' with teams exchanging points in the early rounds and jostling for position. There's a lot more golf to be played before a clear leader emerges.
Scoring was much tighter this week with only three points separating the top twelve players.
Mary MacNamee scored steadily across the twelve holes in play and rounded off with a flourish by parring the 13th, finishing with a one point lead to return to winning ways.
Also showing some good form, Marie Finnegan had six pars in twelve holes, taking second place on the countback from Frances Molloy who had a very good day, both ending on the same points.
Women's Spring Weekly 12 Hole 22nd February 2025 - 1st Mary MacNamee (17) 24 pts; 2nd Marie Finnegan (10) 23 pts c/b; 3rd Frances Molloy (36) 23 pts.
The Spring League is past the halfway point and there is plenty of competition for the lead with three teams currently neck and neck.
How things go over the next couple of weeks will decide which team emerges as Spring league champions. Here is a date for your diaries. We are having a Fashion Show on Friday, March 28th in the clubhouse at 7.30pm.
