The Dundalk FC Supporters Trust appointed its first-ever chairperson at a recent board meeting, from which specific roles and tasks were assigned to its 13 directors.
This was a follow-up to the successful AGM at the Lisdoo on November 18th, where the Trust’s constitution was adopted, as well as an election of 13 members to the board.
The directors have since held their first meeting, where positions within the new board were nominated and filled, with details of such released to The Dundalk Democrat on Sunday.
Elected as chairperson was Gerry Lennon, a former acting chair of The 1903 Supporters Club and founding director of the Trust, with Cormac Gartlan becoming vice-chair.
At the recent AGM, the new chair outlined that approximately 200 people had already become members of the Trust at that juncture, committing funds of about €90,000.
Local accountant Tony McBride, one of three founding directors, has been appointed treasurer of the CLG, while Elaine Sweeney will take up the position of vice-treasurer.
The third founding director, John ‘Bobby’ Ogle, also takes a seat as minutes secretary, with Stephen Neary acting as PRO and Stephen Todd as membership secretary.
Anne Reilly fills the position as equality and inclusion officer, Danny O’Connell as director for youth engagement, Dean Arrowsmith as overseas outreach director, while Louth former LGFA chair Liam O’Neill has been named Dundalk catchment outreach director.
Ex-Dundalk FC chair Tony O’Kane, plus Rachel Kerley, make up the directorship of the Trust, while Paddy Malone, as a non-board member, has become company secretary.
The Trust is now open to any supporters that wish to subscribe financially, with memberships starting from as little as €5 per week and up to €1,000 per annum.
All members, regardless of their pledged amount, will have an equal vote within the Trust and will be eligible to seek election onto the board of directors at the next AGM.
Those wishing to sign up to the Trust can do so online through dfcsupporterstrust.ie, by emailing membership@dfcsupporterstrust.ie, or by simply texting 085 812 4545.
The Trust will also be in the Clanbrassil Centre (Boyd’s) this Thursday, December 12th from 10am to 3pm. Supporters can sign up on the day or speak to members of the board.
Meanwhile, in aid of Dundalk Simon Community, members of the Shed Side Army took part in a sleep-out at Oriel Park over the weekend, from which €2,320 was raised at the time of publication.
