Dundalk man wins Toronto SFC

Gerard McSorley celebrates winning his second Toronto SFC.

Former Louth forward Gerard McSorley won his second Toronto senior football championship medal last weekend.
The Dundalk-native kicked a second-half point having lined out at centre half-forward for Toronto Gaels in their decider triumph against St Patrick’s at Centennial Park.
Gaels won by 1-14 to 0-8, taking the title for the second time in three seasons and going one step further than 12 months ago when they came up short in the showpiece.
McSorley, of course, was a key member of the Dundalk Gaels team that reached the Louth SFC final in 2017 but since emigrating, he has been involved in a further three deciders in the colours of Toronto Gaels.
The former Dundalk FC striker made 34 appearances for Louth at senior level, starting on 11 occasions and scoring 2-23. He played across the respective Colin Kelly, Pete McGrath and Wayne Kierans eras with his last outing coming four years ago.
