DDL Round Up | Jimmy Clancy Cup

Jimmy Clancy Cup, semi-final

Muirhevnamor FC 2-0 Square United

Venue: Muirhevnamor. Date: 27.8.24.

Muirhevnamor were made to work very hard to get the better of an excellent performance from Square United and progress to their 15th Clancy Cup final since 1993 when they beat Pegusus 3-1.

Such was First Division Squares' opening dominance it was totally against the run of play when Mickey O'Kanes well well-placed shot in the 10th minute put the home side in front.

Square's cutting edge up front left a lot to be desired and by half time they failed to test the Blues 'keeper.

As the second half progressed, Square was reduced to ten men, but it took until the 85th minute before Tiarnan Mulvenna eased the Premier side's nerves when he blasted home from close range to seal victory. Muirhevnamor now will meet Bellurgan United in the final.

Faughart Rovers 0-5 Bellurgan United

Venue: Lumpers. Date: 28.8.24.

Bellurgan United eased their way into their fourth Clancy Cup final with a 5-0 victory over Faughart Rovers who had home advantage in the semi-final.

Their only win came in 1991 with a 9-8 win in penalties after a 1-1 draw with Muirhevnamor Celts.

They will meet Muirhevnamor in this year's final. It took eleven minutes for Ross Hynes to open the scoring, his low shot whipped past the keeper.

Aaron Farnon added number 2 with an easy tap-in on 32 minutes, to send the teams in at the break on a 2-0 scoreline.

A fine shot from Oisin Fitzgerald put Flynn Park's side 3-0 ahead and he duly dispatched the spot kick to make it 4-0.

Shane O'Brien completed the rout with a fine effort in the 75th minute. The Bellurgan management team of Will Napier and Paddy Gill have a busy end to the season with a McConville Cup semi-final, Clancy Cup final and a last league game.

DDL Fyffes Premier Division

Shamrocks FC v St. Dominic's

Venue: Muirhevnamor. Date: 28.8.24

Shamrocks got a walkover from St. Dominics which put them top with 16 points from seven games, a point ahead of Muirhevnamor who have played only 5 games. It still looks like Muirhevnamor's title to lose.
