Fuel protestors appear in court charged with dangerous driving on the M1 in Louth

Two truck drivers accused of dangerous driving during a slow moving fuel protest on the M1 yesterday evening, have appeared before Drogheda district court.

Aaron Goss (22) from Ballymakellett, Ravensdale, Dundalk and Ryan Quinn (29) of Dobbin Road, Richill, County Armagh are charged with dangerous driving on the M1 at Braganstown, Castlebellingham on April 13th.

Inspector Kevin Toner of Drogheda Garda Station who gave evidence of arresting the accused at 7pm told Judge Nicola Andrews that gardaí had been called to an incident on the motorway of alleged dangerous driving at Braganstown of such a manner that it "caused a danger to other road users".

He added there was no garda objection to bail subject to conditions including that the defendants commit "no further offence".

After the Defence solicitor Paddy Goodwin replied "There's no problem with that", Judge Andrews remanded both men on bail on their own bond of €300 to appear before Drogheda District Court on May 11th

As part of his bail, Ryan Quinn must stay out of County Louth apart from attending court.

Judge Andrews warned him if he breaches his bail terms "I will revoke your bail".

As both men emerged from the courthouse a round of applause broke out from a small group of supporters.
