A man accused of stabbing a 35-year-old man multiple times, was remanded in custody at a special sitting of Dundalk District Court on Saturday evening.

Mahmoud Alhosini (25) with an address at an apartment on Laurence Street, Drogheda is charged with assault causing harm and production of a large knife in the course of a fight, while committing or appearing to commit assault causing harm at the same address on Laurence Street, Drogheda on Friday March 30th.

The court heard that he was initially detained at 4.18 that morning.

Garda John O Connor, who gave evidence of subsequently arresting the defendant, at Drogheda Garda Station at 11.04pm, said Mr Alhosini made no reply when both charges were put to him after caution shortly after midnight.

Judge Stephanie Coggans refused bail and remanded the defendant in custody to appear before Dundalk District Court tomorrow, Wednesday by videolink and, at the request of Defence barrister Niall Mackin, also directed that the accused receive medical attention.
