A 40-year-old woman who stole from a number of shops in County Louth, has been given two suspended sentences, and has been ordered to stay out of a number of retail outlets.
When the case was called at Dundalk District Court last Wednesday, the barrister representing Danielle O'Hanlon with an address at Ravel Grange, Ardee Road, Dunleer handed in letters from the HSE and Simon Community which he said might be of assistance.
The court heard she had stolen grocery items from Victory's Centra, on Main Street Dunleer on January 10th last year and on March 14th 2024 and Lidl, Avenue Road Dundalk on June 22nd the same year.
She also stole €30 worth of clothing from Penney's on West Street, Drogheda on March 25th 2025, but the property, which was concealed in her bag, was recovered by security as she left the store.
The defendant was also found in possession of 51 Alprazolam tablets at Dundalk Garda Station on March 14th 2024.
The court was told she had nine previous convictions and continues "to labour under drug issues", but her barrister stressed that she has reduced her drug intake and has been attending counselling.
Judge Nicola Andrews imposed two consecutive two month sentences which she suspended on the defendant entering a bond to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
The judge also directed that the defendant stays out of Victory's Centra, Lidl and Penneys.
