Gardaí in Louth have issued fixed penalty notices and seized one vehicle following a roadside operation in Ardee this week.
Members of the Dundalk Roads Policing Unit (RPU) stopped two vehicles displaying non-conforming yellow number plates on the rear, despite both being registered in this jurisdiction.
Both drivers were found to be committing additional offences. The driver of a Volkswagen was identified as a novice driver who failed to display the required ‘N’ plates, while the driver of a Lexus was discovered to be driving a vehicle that had not been taxed for 480 days.
Fixed penalty notices were issued for the various road traffic offences, including the non-conforming registration plates, and the Lexus was seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act 1961.
