Gardaí stopped the driver after detecting the excessive speed

A motorist has been arrested for dangerous driving after being clocked at a staggering 189km/h on the M1 motorway in Louth.

Gardaí stopped the driver after detecting the excessive speed. The legal speed limit on the M1 is 120km/h, meaning the driver was travelling nearly 70km/h over the limit.

In a post shared on social media, Louth Gardaí highlighted the incident.

The driver was arrested at the scene for dangerous driving and court proceedings are expected to follow.
