Gardaí in Dundalk arrested two motorists on suspicion of intoxicated driving during a Roads Policing Unit checkpoint operation.
The incident occurred while officers were conducting a Mandatory Intoxicant Testing (MIT) checkpoint when the driver of a blue car attempted to avoid the checkpoint.
Gardaí stopped the vehicle, and the driver subsequently tested positive for cannabis. They were arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

While dealing with that incident, Gardaí observed a second vehicle being driven without lights and with a flat tyre. The driver was stopped and arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
