Louth Gardaí detect 42 offences in two day M1 crackdown

Louth Divisional Roads Policing Units from Dundalk and Drogheda carried out patrols on the M1 motorway over the past two days as part of Operation Iompar. The initiative focused on tackling mobile phone use, seatbelt offences, and other forms of distracted driving.

During the operation, Gardaí detected 34 mobile phone offences and six seatbelt offences.

One driver was also detected for driving without reasonable consideration, adding to the list of road safety breaches uncovered during the patrols.

Notably, Gardaí arrested a disqualified driver who was caught using a mobile phone behind the wheel. This individual also had outstanding bench warrants and was brought before the courts.
