Gardai have renewed their appeal to the public for information about Ciara Breen as the twenty eighth anniversary of her disappearance approaches.

Detectives at Dundalk investigating the murder of 17-year-old Ciara Breen who was reported missing in Dundalk on February 13th 1997 have renewed their appeal for information.

On 13th February 1997, Ciara Breen disappeared from her home on Bachelor’s Walk, Dundalk and she was never seen again.

“Ciara was last seen at her home at Bachelors Walk, Dundalk in the early hours of Thursday morning 13th February 1997”, a garda spokesperson said.

“Ciara was described as being of slim build, sallow complexion, long dark hair and blue eyes.

“When last seen she was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, wine coloured sweatshirt  and a white t-shirt with an image of her own face on same.

“Ciara was also wearing a black leather wrist watch with a square face and green background.”

Ciara Breen disappeared from her home on Bachelor’s Walk, Dundalk 28 years ago and she was never seen again.

For over 20 years Ciara’s mother, Bernadette Breen, lived with the uncertainty of her only child’s faith, before sadly passing away in 2018.

Years after Ciara’s disappearance, in 2015, a search took place in an area called Balmer’s Bog off the Ardee Road.
The search was concluded after almost four weeks.

The missing teenager was the focus of a TG4 documentary last year which told the stories of those missing through the eyes of their family and friends.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to Ciara’s disappearance and murder to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042-9388400, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
