Dundalk district court has been told a man who was found with a knife has little recollection of the incident, where he used it to disconnect the wire on a doorbell.

Christopher O’Grady (33) of Broughton Street, Dundalk was charged with criminal damage and possession of a sharply pointed blade, at an address at McSwiney Street, Dundalk on April 30th last.

He also admitted the theft of a cosmetics hamper worth €89 at Pure Pharmacy, Market Square, Dundalk, on March 30th last year.

After hearing the defendant had 66 previous convictions, Judge Stephanie Coggans imposed one month concurrent sentences for the knife and criminal damage charge and a two week sentence for the hamper theft.
