A multi-agency rescue operation unfolded yesterday morning, 5th June, after walker became unwell on a remote trail in the Ravensdale area, just north of Dundalk.

Gardaí from both Dundalk and Drumad stations responded swiftly to reports of a hiker experiencing difficulties on an off-road path in a remote area. Gardaí from An Garda Síochána Louth were first on the scene and provided immediate first aid to the man.

Shortly after, Gardaí were joined by the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 116 and the Greenore Coastguard Unit, who assisted in the operation to evacuate the walker from the mountain trail.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all involved, the man was safely transported from the mountainside and subsequently taken by ambulance to hospital for medical assessment. Fortunately, he did not sustain any serious injuries.
